Former leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, has stated that a "respectable, not small" number of deputies from the Vetëvendosje Movement (VV) have promised him their vote if he were to run for president of the country.

In an interview on the show Pressing, Haradinaj said that these promises were given to him directly, even in the presence of his fellow MPs.

"A respected number, not a small number of VV MPs, have told me 'if you are in the race, you have my vote', they have also said it in meetings in the presence of their colleagues," Haradinaj declared.

He added that the MPs in question "are alive and can declare themselves."

Haradinaj also spoke about the issue of presidential candidacy, saying that he finds it politically surprising that Prime Minister Albin Kurti has not proposed Vjosa Osmani for another term.

"I am surprised that Albin Kurti did not propose Vjosa Osmani, because the achievement of LVV is also a contribution of Vjosa Osmani. It was a joint competition, it is quite surprising that she did not run," said Haradinaj.

According to him, Kurti's failure to nominate Osmani implies a political bypassing of her, despite the role she played in the joint electoral victory.
