Hansi Flick gives Deco the green light to sign Monaco star

Barcelona have made the right-back position one of their top priorities for the summer transfer window and it appears that sporting director Deco has already begun researching possible options.

The Blaugranas have been mainly linked with three players who play on the right wing over the last year: Vanderson (Monaco), Marc Pubill (Almeria) and Andrei Ratiu (Rayo Vallecano).

However, according to a report from the Catalan daily Sport, Deco is eager to sign Vanderson, who he has been following since he was part of Gremio.

The 23-year-old is known for his physical play, technical skills and reading of the game, attributes that have made him Deco's preferred option.

The same medium explains that Hansi Flick has already given the green light to reach an agreement for Vanderson, whom he also sees as ready to play an important role at the club.

The fact that he can also operate as a left-back is being considered an advantage for the Brazilian over other options.

Deco has reportedly opened talks with his agents and the first steps have been described as positive, although it is not yet known what the total cost of a possible operation would be.
