Hamas releases video of Israeli-American hostage held in Gaza, begs for his release

Hamas released a video claiming to show Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, who has been held in Gaza since he was kidnapped by the group on October 7, 2023.

In the video he prays for his release.

The young man introduces himself as Edan Alexander and says he has been in Gaza for 551 days. He wonders why he is still there and prays for his release.

It is known that during the war, Hamas had already released videos of hostages pleading for their release, reports the Telegraph.

Israeli officials have previously dismissed the footage as propaganda designed to pressure their government.

Meanwhile, the war has been going on for a year and a half.

Hamas reportedly released 38 hostages under a ceasefire agreement that began on January 19.

The Israeli government resumed ground and air strikes on Gaza in March, breaking the fragile ceasefire.

Israeli officials say the military campaign will continue until the 59 hostages are released and Gaza is demilitarized.

While Hamas insists it will only release the hostages as part of a deal to end the war and has rejected demands to lay down its arms.

Otherwise, the US, Qatar, and Egypt are mediating between Hamas and Israel. /Telegraph/
