A video circulating on social media shows Israeli security officers abusing Palestinian prisoners at the Negev prison in southern Israel, ahead of their release as part of a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.

The Hamas-affiliated Palestinian Prisoners Media Office published the video on its digital platforms, citing Israeli media sources.

The footage shows a group of Palestinian prisoners with their hands tied behind their backs, forced to walk in a row with their eyes closed and their heads bowed down, surrounded by Israeli soldiers and police officers.

The Prisoner Media Office said the video "documents a harrowing scene showing the brutal mistreatment of prisoners, who are scheduled to be released under the exchange agreement."

Otherwise, according to the agreement, 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, including 250 serving life sentences and 1,700 detained in Gaza since the start of the war in October 2023, will be released in exchange for 48 Israeli hostages.

Israel's Justice Ministry on Friday released the names of 250 prisoners serving life sentences for the swap.
