Popular singer Gwen Stefani has revealed that the best advice she can give couples is to invite a "third party" to their wedding - and no, it's not about any other person, but about God.

The 55-year-old said that she and her husband, country music singer Blake Shelton, depend on God's faith and presence to keep their relationship strong and healthy.

Guesting on The Drew Barrymore Show, Stefani spoke openly about the role that divine power plays in her relationship with Shelton, 48. As a devout Catholic, she revealed that faith has been the pillar of their relationship since their beginnings in 2015, when they met as coaches on The Voice.

At the time, Gwen was going through a difficult divorce from Gavin Rossdale, with whom she has three children: Kingston (18), Zuma (16) and Apollo (11), while Shelton was ending his marriage to singer Miranda Lambert. "We were both in chaos. Nothing could save us at that moment," Stefani previously told People magazine. "At one point I was like, 'I can't talk to you anymore. It's crazy. I have enough problems. This doesn't work anymore. No texting, nothing.'"

Blake didn't give up, though. He sent Gwen an unfinished song, suggesting they write it together — and that's how their duet "Go Ahead and Break My Heart," released in 2016, was born. "I think he really wanted to impress me," Gwen said. "He doesn't write songs like he used to, but I love writing songs. It's a way for me to feel like I have value, that I have a purpose."

The couple married in July 2021, in an intimate ceremony at Shelton's ranch in Oklahoma. Blake later confessed that it was Gwen who inspired him to trust God more and make Him a daily part of his life. "She made me go to church for the first time," he told Fox News. "It was time to turn the page. If you take God out of this story, nothing makes sense. But when you put Him at the center, everything that has happened between us makes sense." /Telegraph/
