Gucati: Presidents Begaj and Osmani are expected to be at the February 17 protest

On February 17, on the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's declaration of independence, a nationwide protest will be organized in Skanderbeg Square in Pristina in support of the former KLA leaders who are being tried in The Hague.
Hysni Gucati, chairman of OVL-UÇK, spoke about this organization, and in an interview with Euronews Albania, he said that he expects the presidents of the two Albanian states, Bajram Begaj and Vjosa Osmani, to participate.
"So far, it is not official, but based on information, we expect the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, together with President Vjosa Osmani, to join the protest in Pristina. Taulant Balla will be part of the protest, as will many MPs from all political parties in Albania. Also, students from Albanian universities, who will come in an organized manner," Gucati declared.
Otherwise, the civic platform "Freedom has a Name", through its representatives Eliza Hoxha and Ismail Tasholli, held today the last media conference before the civic march "Justice, not politics", which will be held on February 17 in Pristina, on the 18th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kosovo.
In her speech, Eliza Hoxha emphasized that in two days, the capital's square "will not be simply a public space, but the heart of Kosovo that beats in unison," describing the march as evidence of civic unity in defense of justice, dignity and respect for the country's history.
She announced that the civic mobilization has been extraordinary and comprehensive.
"We have received support from all municipalities in the country. Messages of support, confirmations of participation and concrete commitments to organize transport and local mobilization have come from every corner of Kosovo," Hoxha declared.
According to her, the march was joined by unions, freelancers, teachers, doctors, artists, athletes, and representatives of religious communities, proving that this initiative transcends political divisions.
"This is not a party issue. It is not a power issue. It is a matter of justice and national dignity," she stressed.
The platform announced that there are confirmations of participation from Albanians in the region and from the diaspora in Europe. In addition, dozens of Kosovar families have confirmed their participation as a family, with children, parents and grandparents.
Eliza Hoxha emphasized that this march no longer belongs to a platform or a few individuals, but belongs to the people.
"We expect over 200 thousand citizens and we aim for this to be the largest march in the history of a free Kosovo. But its greatness will be measured by the calm, discipline and seriousness of the message we will convey," she said, adding that citizens will come out to demand justice for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and their comrades.
