The Chairman of the KLA War Veterans Organization, Hysni Gucati, has expressed his concern about the possibility that former President Hashim Thaçi will not be allowed to attend his father's funeral.
Gucati said on Dukagjini TV that there is little hope that the Special Court will approve such a permit, given previous practices against other defendants.
"I regret to say that I have little hope that this court will allow [Thaci] to attend the funeral. Seeing what happened with me, with Mr. Kadri Veseli and others. We also have the case of (Nasim) Haradinaj, where his brother died and he was unable to attend the funeral."
"I really hope they will allow him to come, but I have little faith. I am in contact with Thaçi's brother, Idriz, they are coordinating with Mr. Thaçi's defense attorneys, but there is still no news as of this moment whether Mr. Thaçi will be released. He allowed me two days after my father died, and he allowed Mr. Veseli two days later," Gucati said.
