Guardiola speaks on Liverpool's elimination from the Champions League

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that Liverpool's elimination from the Champions League does not change their impressive season.

Liverpool were seen as the main favourites to win the Champions League trophy this season, having won all their matches during the league stage, but were immediately eliminated by PSG in the round of 1.

Speaking about the Reds' elimination by Paris Saint-Germain, Guardiola praised Luis Enrique's side, but stressed that Liverpool's overall performances this season remain exceptional.

"The opinion of Liverpool this season does not change for a second. This is because Luis Enrique's team is incredible. He created a new team with energy, quality," Guardiola initially said.

"Liverpool wanted to progress but they couldn't. But they don't change because they're out now. Liverpool won't change a fantastic season," the City coach concluded. /Telegraph/
