Grenell: Thaçi hostage of Special, the accusations are political madness

Richard Grenell, US President Donald Trump's special envoy for missions, commented on the protest held on Thursday against the injustices of the Special Court, saying it was encouraging to him.
Grenell, in an interview with Klan Kosova, said that the Special Court is a huge stain on Europeans by allowing former KLA leaders to be held for more than five years in detention.
"This is not a fair justice system. When you keep someone in prison for that long on crazy political charges, I think it's more of a commentary on the political prosecutions that the Europeans are doing. This is terrible and it says a lot more about Brussels, a lot more about The Hague, a lot more about the political nature of Europe. Look, one of the things Europe needs to do is focus on the economy and less on politics," Grenell said.
Grenell considers that former President Thaçi is a hostage of the Special Court.
"Yes, I certainly consider that what they have done in the last five years is to be held hostage. It is a terrible situation and you should listen to Edi Rama. I think you should listen to people all over Europe who are starting to say that this is unacceptable. If you want a fair justice system, this is terribly wrong," Grenell said.
