Governor Ismaili at the international conference on the 100th anniversary of the Bank of Albania

The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK), Ahmet Ismaili, participated as a speaker at the international conference organized by the Bank of Albania on the occasion of its 100th anniversary, with the topic "A Century of Central Banking: From Institutional Establishment to the Role as a Regional Anchor".
This high-level event, which brought together central bank governors, representatives of international institutions, and renowned experts in the field, discussed developments in the global economy, monetary policies, and the impact of digital transformations on financial systems.
Governor Ismaili participated in the panel "Stable Digital Currencies, Independence and the Future of Money", where he spoke about Kosovo's experience in digitalizing payment infrastructure, financial inclusion and reforms undertaken by the CBK to strengthen financial stability and cybersecurity.
He emphasized that Kosovo has great potential for the development of digital financial services thanks to its young population and the wide reach of the internet, underlining the importance of balancing innovation with stability and financial education of citizens.
In his speech, Ismaili also spoke about the CBK's cautious approach to cryptoassets and preparations for the central bank digital currency (CBDC), emphasizing close cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and following the European Central Bank's developments on the Digital Euro.
“Digital transformation must translate into broader inclusion and economic well-being for all citizens, but always while preserving stability, monetary sovereignty, and the integrity of the financial system,” emphasized Governor Ismaili.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks by the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, and the Prime Minister of Albania, and also included video messages from the President of the European Central Bank and the Managing Director of the IMF.
