Ademi-Islami recounted her professional journey – from her studies in Kosovo, her formative experience in the US, to her joint specialization with her sister.
She brought up a special story from the early years of her career, when she first saw up close a patient diagnosed with cancer who, thanks to accurate information, was calm and full of confidence.
According to her, accurate information reduces fear and increases hope, which in oncology is half the way to the patient's emotional healing.
"The best weapon is the word. A kind word heals," said Ademi-Islami.
According to her, the way diagnosis, treatment, and expectations are communicated to the patient is essential.
