Gjorgjievski: We plan to build gas-fired power plants in Skopje

"We need to work seriously on what is a fundamental problem in terms of pollution, which is household heating. And here we have already had several meetings with the Prime Minister regarding the gas-fired power plants that we plan to build in the capital," said the Mayor of the City of Skopje, Orce Gjorgjievski, tonight on the "Top Tema" show on "Telma" television.
He focused on the work done so far and plans for the future. Gjorgjievski spoke about the "Safe City" system, pollution, and employees in public enterprises.
"I'm not convinced that they see full containers very often. I wouldn't be more honest if I said that failures don't happen, it's a living matter and failures can happen. But we are working much better compared to the starting point and the base I had the first day when I entered the City of Skopje with 16 functional machines - compared to about 50 that are functional now, today - there is a serious difference," said Gjorgjievski.
He added that investment in new municipal vehicles is planned.
"What we have done in the past period is that together in coordination with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Transport and Communications, we have already started a procedure through the World Bank to provide more than 20 new municipal vehicles, which will be for the needs of 'Municipal Hygiene'. This means new mechanization, the part of the old mechanization for which serious funds are being spent on depreciation and repair, we should leave it aside and come out with new trucks. In the Budget for next year, certain additional funds will be foreseen as the City of Skopje and 'Municipal Hygiene', to invest in new vehicles, and mechanization, we will do this", said the Mayor of the City of Skopje.
Speaking about employees in public enterprises, Gjorgievski said that he believes that in "NQP - Skopje" there are many contract workers whose status needs to be resolved.
