Gjorgjievski: 40 new trucks for "Municipal Hygiene" by April

Forty new trucks for "Municipal Hygiene" will be supplied by April, announced the Mayor of the City of Skopje Orce Gjorgjievski. Some of them will be purchased through public procurement, for which funds have been secured in the Budget of the City of Skopje, while some will be purchased through the World Bank.
"We will supply them by April in two stages (on the one hand, we ourselves will carry out a public supply through the "Municipal Hygiene", for which we have allocated funds in the budget, and on the other hand, the Ministry of Transport through the World Bank). This is already news for the city, we will supply trucks that will save on fuel, on services, which will fully meet the needs of the residents of Skopje", said Gjorgjievski tonight in the central news bulletin on "Sitel" television.
Gjorgievski recalled that there were only 16 functional trucks in the "Municipal Hygiene" and that now there are about 40 to 50 trucks, but due to the age of the vehicles and frequent defects, the number of functional vehicles is decreasing every day.
According to him, the waste situation in Skopje is much better than before, but he still says that there is a small percentage of the population that is negligent, due to which the entire population suffers. In the past period, as he emphasized, hundreds of warnings and fines have been issued.
The situation with public transport is expected to normalize by the first half of next year, when new buses should arrive. He admits that there are still shortcomings in certain places, but that the problems are being overcome. He says that supplies for some parts have not been paid for and that this was one of the challenges they faced from the beginning.
"Therefore, there were many buses that were non-functional and many trucks from "Municipal Hygiene" that were non-functional," said Gjorgjievski.
