Gjilan's budget passes without votes against, but not without conditions

The Municipal Assembly of Gjilan, in an extraordinary session, approved the budget for 2026 with 33 votes in favor and none against.
The main pillars of the budget were presented by the Mayor, Alban Hyseni, who announced that the budget for 2026 amounts to 41.928.924 euros, or close to 42 million euros.
During the debate, Besnik Shala (VV), Nazim Gagica (AAK) and Naser Arifi (Guxo) gave preliminary support for the budget, while also submitting several requests for community investments. Meanwhile, the opposition, represented by Gentrit Murseli (LDK) and Riad Rashiti (PDK), expressed criticism and remarks, conditioning the vote on the incorporation of dozens of community projects.
After the meeting with representatives of political entities, Mayor Hyseni announced that it was agreed that eight of the 20 LDK requests be included in the budget, in the amount of 764 thousand euros, as well as the request of the Guxo party for the arrangement of the park in Miresh. Regarding the PDK requests, with special emphasis on the city cemetery, he said that it was agreed that they be incorporated during the budget transfer in February, respectively for the increase in the budget for this project.
Assembly members Muhadin Haziri, Sami Ahmeti, Bujar Nevzati, Fitim Guda, Fatos Ramadani, Lirije Kosumi, Burhan Isufi and Gresa Avdiu also contributed with requests, criticisms and recommendations to the session.
Also, in today's session, the youngest member of the Municipal Assembly, Renan Imam, was sworn in, while the Assembly also elected the Deputy President for Communities, Kadir Hysein. /KP/
