The finalists for the prestigious World Car Awards 2026 have been announced, with electric cars dominating almost every category.

The winners will be revealed on April 1st during the New York International Auto Show.

The race for "World Car of the Year" pits the BMW iX3, Hyundai Palisade and Nissan Leaf, offering an interesting combination of SUVs and an affordable EV.

The BMW iX3 stands out with high performance and great autonomy, while the Nissan Leaf remains an economical choice with solid driving range.

In the "World Electric Vehicle" category, the iX3 and Leaf will face off against the electric Mercedes-Benz CLA.

Meanwhile, in the luxury segment, the Cadillac Vistiq, Lucid Gravity and Volvo ES90 compete.

The performance category also includes an electric model, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, which challenges traditional sports models.

These nominations clearly show that the automotive industry is moving rapidly towards electrification, while the competition for the main titles is expected to be stronger than ever. /Telegraph/
