During the podcast "Health First", supported by United Hospital, gastroenterologist Avni Haziri has explained in detail how abdominal pain and accompanying symptoms can indicate various problems of the digestive system, especially the stomach.

According to him, if the pain occurs in the upper abdomen, it is usually related to the stomach.

He said that the location of the pain and the time it appears are very important in understanding which part of the stomach is affected.

"If the patient indicates that the pain occurs immediately after eating, is accompanied by burning, a feeling of nausea or even vomiting, then the problem is usually located in the part where food first enters the stomach or in its lower part," explains Haziri.

Haziri further stated that in these cases, the diagnosis can range from mild gastritis to gastric ulcer.

An important sign, according to Haziri, is a chronic dry cough, which is often not related to the lungs or allergies, but to the reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus.

"Reflux occurs when stomach acid flows back through the diaphragm into the esophagus and sometimes into the throat, irritating these parts," explains the gastroenterologist, adding that for this reason, many patients think the problem is in the throat, lungs, or heart.
