The Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, commented on the latest political events in the country in an interview with Alsat Television.
Gashi commented on today's meeting of the leaders of the country's political parties. He underlined the importance of returning the institution of the Assembly to the epicenter.
"I would like to highlight two elements. The first is from the information I have about the meeting that has flown within the leaders, it was a very constructive meeting, I think it was also said by the participants themselves. And I am very happy with the fact that we are maturing as a democracy. The dialogue is open, we have the opportunity to sit down, to discuss. We must understand that this is parliamentary democracy. We must often sit at the table even with those who do not think like us. And I think this is an added value. And this fact makes me happy. And the second element makes me happy is the fact that the Parliament is turning into a center where issues will have to be resolved."
"For a long time, the Assembly has only been a collateral-side issue where all agreements have been made elsewhere and implemented in the Assembly. I was very pleased that the leaders agreed that concrete talks to resolve the problems will continue tomorrow in the Assembly at the level of coordinators for concrete laws, for concrete solutions," declared Gashi.
