Lawyer Tomë Gashi highly praised today's protest by KLA veterans in Skopje, describing it as a dignified and peaceful demonstration, although Macedonian authorities had expressed earlier concerns about security.

On RTV Dukagjini, Gashi emphasized that the protesters showed prudence and civic culture.

"At least what was a kind of small fear, imposed by the Prime Minister of Macedonia, did not come true and we saw that it was something without any excess, not even the slightest."

"The protest was magnificent and without any incidents," he said, adding that "the fear imposed by Mickoski did not materialize."

According to Gashi, the KLA War Veterans Organization has organized five protests in the region, all of which have been peaceful. He stressed that the protesters did not make inflammatory speeches and that the protests in Skopje, like in Pristina, Tirana, Strasbourg and The Hague, had only one goal: to raise awareness of the injustices that, according to him, are taking place at the Special Court in The Hague.

Gashi stated that the protest should not be interpreted by the Special Court as a reason not to make legal decisions in favor of the former KLA leaders.

"The court has no basis to call for protests against releasing the defendants in the defense," he stressed.

He criticized the fact that the Special Court only tries members of the KLA, considering that it is equating "the victim with the aggressor."

According to him, any verdict that would harm key KLA figures would have political consequences for Kosovo itself.
