The Speaker of the Parliament, Afrim Gashi, today met with Jiang Xiaoyan, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of North Macedonia.
The Parliament's press service reported that Gashi expressed great satisfaction with the meeting and emphasized that he "expects that the sincere friendship that exists between the two countries will be strengthened and further advanced in the future."
"He stressed that although the two countries are geographically distant, relations between them are developing in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect. The Republic of North Macedonia consistently affirms the position of the existence of 'one China', as well as the position that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate Government of the Chinese people, and Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory," the statement said.
Ambassador Xiaojan informed about all the activities undertaken by the People's Republic of China to deepen cooperation between the two countries in areas such as education, culture, science, health, medicine, etc.
"She emphasized that for China, our country is a crossroads of several civilizations, a bridge between East and West and an important partner in the region. The two interlocutors agreed that in the future there are many new opportunities for cooperation, especially in the field of digitalization and artificial intelligence, especially at a time when the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia is seriously working on the full digitalization of all work processes in the parliament," the Assembly's press service reports.
