A gas cylinder explosion occurred this Thursday in a pizzeria, at the “Delijorgji” complex, in Tirana. As a result of the explosion, two people were injured, the owner of the entity, about 40 years old, and his 28-year-old employee. The two injured were taken to hospital for specialized treatment and are out of danger to their lives.

The pizzeria where the explosion occurred was still in the process of opening and was not operational.

According to police investigations, the gas cylinders were installed on the ground floor, and were connected to the floor above through pipes. When the owner and employee entered the pizzeria, they did not smell the gas that had leaked and started working. At some point inside the premises, it is suspected that there was a spark and at that moment the explosion occurred.

The footage shows that the explosion was powerful, damaging almost the entire exterior facade of the entity. Also, part of the facade of the businesses adjacent to the pizzeria were damaged.

The exterior facades of businesses across the street also suffered damage; the windows of the pizzeria were moved several meters further as a result of the explosion, hitting the doors and windows of other businesses.

Periodic inspections of gas cylinders remain necessary, as they often result in one of the main safety issues. (A2 Television)
