Gakpo drops bombshell about Alexander-Arnold's future after title celebration

Cody Gakpo has given a major warning about the future of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold will be out of contract at the end of the season and expectations are that he will be transferred to Real Madrid as a free agent.

Nothing has been made official yet in this regard, but the future of captain Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah has already been announced weeks ago.

Now with the title secured and five games to play, a teammate has added even more uncertainty with what some fans hope could be a slip-up.

Speaking after the triumph over Tottenham, Dutch international Cody Gakpo spoke with optimism about the team's future.

"Now with Salah and Van Dijk staying and Trent hopefully staying as well, they can continue to make history," Gakpo said.

Considering the situation and the fact that Gakpo's statement gave nothing away, there is a small comment that could leave a lot to be understood.

The first interpretation is that Alexander-Arnold will stay at Liverpool and Gakpo only confirmed this.

The second is that Gakpo doesn't know any more than we do and he sincerely hopes that Alexander-Arnold hasn't made up his mind yet and will choose to stay at Liverpool.Telegraph/
