GLPS outlines five priorities for the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council

The Legal and Political Studies Group held a press conference today, outlining the five priorities that the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council should have, following the entry into force of the legal changes on the composition of this institution and the latest developments regarding the reform of the prosecutorial system.
According to the GLPS, the KPC, as a collegial body that administers the prosecution system in the country, should prioritize holding a meeting and approving the Regulation for the Election of the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the KPC.
GLPS further emphasizes that the priority should also be the election of the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson, the announcement of the competition for the position of Chief State Prosecutor, the amendment and supplementing of the Regulation on the election of prosecutorial members, and the election of new members of the KPC.
According to the Group for Legal and Policy Studies, increasing institutional transparency and accountability should also be prioritized.
"GLPS assesses that the above-mentioned priorities and the collaborative approach of the new composition of the Council towards the public, civil society and international partners would reflect a concrete step towards the institutional consolidation of the KPK and the fulfillment of legal obligations for a functional, reliable, transparent and accountable prosecutorial system," the statement reads. /Telegrafi/
