Today, on the 20th anniversary of the death of Kosovo's historic president, Ibrahim Rugova, a rare video from the wartime archives has been published on social networks.
The video was shared by Blerina Kllokoqi Rugova, the wife of Mendim Rugova, who remembered the figure of the former president through this archival material of special historical and emotional value.
It is a video made in 1998, in which Ibrahim Rugova is seen hosting a group of famous artists of the time in his office. The meeting was part of a call for peace, at a time when Kosovo was facing a fierce war and constant repression by Serbia.
The published images feature big names in Albanian art and culture, including Sabri Fejzullahu, Violeta Rexhepagiqi, Dukagjin Lipa, father of singer Dua Lipa, Adelina Ismaili together with her mother, Mona, as well as journalist Benet Kaçi, among many other public figures.
According to the information made public, the video was taken from the personal archives of Adnan Merovci, one of the associates and closest people of the late President Rugova.
