Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has reacted after the final words given by the former KLA leaders in their trial in The Hague.

Rama has shared on the social network Facebook, Hashim Thaçi's speech made today in his closing speech in the process taking place in the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.

Alongside the video, Rama wrote a short message: "Freedom has a name."

We recall that on Tuesday, on the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence, the Albanian Prime Minister shared the emotional conversation he had had over the phone with former President Hashim Thaçi.

"For years, the February 17th congratulatory phone call from The Hague has been emotionally difficult, but today the Commander was as calm as ever in his voice, repeating to me twice, at the beginning and at the end, 'I have won my freedom forever and no matter where I am, no one can ever take it away from me!'" Rama wrote.

His reaction comes immediately after the conclusion of the final statements phase in the trial of former KLA leaders, a process that has sparked numerous reactions in Kosovo and Albania.

The trial against former Kosovo Liberation Army commanders at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in the Dutch city of The Hague concluded on February 18, after nearly three years.

On Wednesday, February 18, the defenses of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi, former parliamentarians Kadri Veseli and Jakup Krasniqi, and former MP Rexhep Selimi, gave their final defense arguments.

They repeated their arguments that the Prosecution has no evidence for the charges brought, has failed to prove their guilt, and therefore requested an acquittal.

The former KLA superiors are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, to which all four have pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution has requested that they be found guilty and sentenced to 45 years in prison each, but the defense teams have argued that there is no evidence for the alleged crimes and have requested their release. /Telegraph/
