Former police officer Shaqir Lutvija sentenced to 10 years in prison for war crimes – he had practiced inhumane treatment against Albanians

Shaqir Lutvija has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for war crimes by the Basic Court in Pristina.
The verdict against Lutvija was announced on Tuesday by a panel of judges.
He has been found guilty of war crimes, who in his capacity as an inspector and police officer at the Police Station in Prizren, individually and in complicity with other members of the Serbian police forces, during the years 1998-1999, exercised repressive measures of murder, arrest, beating, mistreatment and inhumane treatment against Albanian civilians.
Lutvija will also be credited with the time spent in detention from October 14, 2023 until the verdict becomes final.
Meanwhile, the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo welcomes the guilty verdict of the Basic Court in Pristina against the accused of war crimes, Sh.L.
According to the indictment filed on September 04, 2024, Sh.L., in his capacity as an inspector and police officer at the Police Station in Prizren, individually and in complicity with other persons of the Serbian police forces, during the years 1998-1999, exercised repressive measures of murder, arrest, beating, mistreatment and inhumane treatment against Albanian civilians.
