Former lawyer Fehmi Stafa is remanded in custody

The Criminal Court announces that it has accepted the prosecution's proposal to impose a 30-day detention measure on former lawyer Fehmi Stafa due to the risk of flight and influence over witnesses.
He is suspected of taking a total of 50.000 euros in bribes with the promise of releasing a suspect for financial crimes from detention.
"Initially, the suspect had requested 100.000 euros to influence the lifting of the detention measure imposed on a person who is elusive by the prosecution authorities and against whom the Public Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption is conducting another procedure for criminal offenses against public finances, payments and the economy.
On 06.10.2025, he accepted part of the requested amount, specifically 30.000 euros, which was handed over to him by the fugitive's sister. On 13.12.2025, he directly requested and accepted another 20.000 euros as part of the bribe he had requested to give to the judge.
"Immediately after receiving the money, the suspect was arrested and the money was found on him," the Public Prosecution Office said yesterday./Telegraph/
