Former commander of the Kosovo Security Force, Kadri Kastrati, has assessed that the publication of details about the weaponry purchased by the KSF should not be used for media or political purposes.

On the FIVE show, Kastrati said that the government and institutions should show increased caution and not turn the Armed Forces into a campaign tool.

He added that while the technical characteristics of the weaponry are publicly known, details such as quantity, deployment, and method of use should not be published.

"I really regret all these media events. I would strongly suggest, both to the Government and to the institutions, not to use our armed forces for media or political campaigns. All weapons that are purchased, whether their type or quantity, should not be made public to a part of the public - and that part is our neighbors. Why should they know what we are being supplied with, which drones or missiles? These issues should not be so media-related. We have also seen it with the drones that came from Turkey - every purchase is made public and turns into news for narrow interests, whether they are media or political," he stated.

Kastrati also mentioned the previous case of drones purchased from Turkey, saying that each purchase is accompanied by excessive media exposure for political or narrow interests.

"The enemy never makes it known how much and in what number the KSF possesses. As for the characteristics of these weapons, they are known and public, but the quantity, their location, their use and who uses them should be non-public," he emphasized.

His statement comes after Kosovo received a shipment of OMTAS anti-tank missile systems from Turkey.
