Former Turkish league top scorer falls from 11th floor and tragically dies at age 28

Aaron Boupendza, the 28-year-old Gabon national football team player, tragically lost his life in the Chinese city of Hangzhou after falling from the 11th floor of a building.

According to Chinese media, Boupendza was in the building with teammates from the Zhejiang FC club.

The details of the tragedy are still being investigated, while Chinese police do not currently suspect foul play, but it is assumed to be an accident.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the club confirmed the player's death in an official statement and expressed deep sorrow.

Aaron Boupendza began his football career in his native Gabon and settled in Europe, where he played for Bordeaux, Gaz Metan, Hatayspor where he was the top scorer of the Turkish Super League (2020/21), and later played in Qatar (Al-Arabi), Saudi Arabia (Al-Shabab), the United States (FC Cincinnati) and most recently in Romania with Rapid Bucharest.

Boupendza was an important member of the Gabon national team, for whom he made 35 appearances and scored eight goals. /Telegraph/
