"Territory swap" - former Trump advisor speaks about the Kosovo-Serbia risk

Former national security adviser during Donald Trump's first administration, John Bolton, expressed concern about the policies the president is pursuing.

In an exclusive interview with Zona Zero on Top News, he said that US allies should prepare for a trade war.

"I'm concerned about the policies that President Trump will pursue in his second term. I'm concerned about a trade war between the United States and its allies, and I'm also concerned about how he will handle the war in Ukraine, the Middle East.

"In the past we've heard about the policies pursued towards Ukraine, and I'm concerned about the new position of the United States that puts Ukraine in a difficult position vis-à-vis Russia. I'm really concerned that it's going to be a long four years," Bolton said.

Bolton emphasized the Balkans, where, according to him, the danger is greatest.

"Trump and his advisors should pay attention to the Balkans. I would consider that the Balkans should be a priority. Because the events between Kosovo and Serbia need to be resolved," said the former Trump advisor.

He was also asked about the thesis of exchanging territories. But according to him, Kosovo and Serbia can resolve their conflicts since the biggest American challenge during Trump's first term was the name issue of North Macedonia.

"I was there in 2018-2019 and then serious efforts were made to reach an agreement. And I say it would be in the interest of both countries. I do not underestimate the difficulties, but I know that there was an opportunity that then disappeared. I say it is worth making efforts.

The issue between Kosovo and Serbia is not as serious as the name issue for North Macedonia. However, the parties decided on a compromise and managed to find a solution.

"If an acceptable solution can be reached, not imposed from outside, this will bring the possibility that foreigners who want to cause unrest will not have the necessary ground to sow this unrest. And once these barriers fall, there is the possibility of integration into NATO," Bolton concluded.

Bolton also criticized Grenell for his stance towards Albin Kurti on election day, calling his reaction wrong.
