Footage purportedly shows passenger plane that 'decided to brave' tornado that was hitting Missouri

Passenger planes continued to depart as severe storms and tornadoes reached the St. Louis, Missouri area on Friday night, March 14.

And according to foreign media, reports the Telegraph, a tornado can be seen directly behind the plane.

Although it could not be independently verified whether the footage shows a tornado, the video was shot looking southwest toward neighborhoods where storm damage was later reported, including Maryland Heights and Bridgeton.

The footage was reportedly shot around 21:18 p.m., which was a few minutes after meteorologists began reporting a radar-confirmed tornado moving northeast toward Maryland Heights.

Meanwhile, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said at least 12 people were killed by storms across the state.

Governor Mike Kehoe said Missouri had been "ravaged by severe storms and tornadoes, leaving homes destroyed and lives lost." /Telegraph
