The Regional Police Directorate in Mitrovica North has announced that following the situation created as a result of the recent floods, the state of security and public order in the north of the country is under continuous monitoring.

According to the announcement, the Kosovo Police has been continuously engaged in the field and in full coordination with other relevant institutions, including the respective municipalities, the Fire Department and the Emergency Management Agency, with the aim of managing the situation and preventing potential risks to citizens.


"Floods have been recorded in the city of Zveçan and in North Mitrovica. Meanwhile, on 08.01.2025, the Kosovo Police received information that in the village of Beluçe in Leposaviq, as a result of flooding, a bridge has suffered damage, with one leg of the bridge being damaged. Regarding this case, the Police have notified the municipal officials of Leposaviq as well as representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure, who have gone to the field and have concluded that, due to the safety risk, the bridge should be closed. As a result, the bridge has been temporarily closed until further notice," the announcement states.

Also, during these days, four families have been evacuated in the city of North Mitrovica, after their homes were flooded as a result of the floods.

The situation is currently manageable and the Kosovo Police is continuing to monitor the situation on the ground. Citizens can contact the Kosovo Police at 192 for any difficulties or emergencies.
