The Ministry of Justice believes that there is a serious need for further review and analysis of existing legislation. We are focused on identifying possible changes and additions to the laws, which will contribute to significantly strengthening road safety.
The Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, in his speech at the public hearing "Analysis and determination of the need to amend legal regulations in order to strengthen traffic safety", emphasized that it is necessary to improve the criminal provisions regarding violators, supported by a detailed analysis of the practice of imposing and implementing sentences.
“When drafting amendments to legal regulations, especially in the area of sanctions, it is necessary to ask the question: “Are the penalties for traffic violators appropriate and rigorous enough to have a deterrent effect?” This will help us identify which areas need to be strengthened with new legal measures, such as alcohol, speeding, mobile phone use and other risk factors,” said Minister Filkov.
Also, according to the Minister, some traffic violations should be regulated as criminal offenses. In this regard, it is necessary to initiate legal amendments that will expand the list of criminal offenses against traffic safety. This applies not only to serious crimes that pose a threat to people's lives and property, but also to minor offenses such as failing to provide assistance to a person injured in a traffic accident./Telegraph/
