SDSM Chairman Venko Filipce, from Zagreb where he addressed the Congress of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia, on the eve of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

In his speech, he criticized the government of North Macedonia, saying that there are increasingly authoritarian tendencies in the country, the growing influence of the economic and financial oligarchy, policies that harm workers, pressure on unions, and the discrediting of civic organizations and critical intellectuals.

He said that the government's false patriotism is used to protect criminal and clientelistic networks and that the process of integration into the European Union has been blocked, as according to him, the government has abandoned the broad political and social consensus by arguing that national identity is at risk.

"Even in my country, we are faced with increasingly authoritarian tendencies, the growing influence of the economic and financial oligarchy, economic policies that directly harm workers, pressure on unions, discrediting civic organizations and critical progressive intellectuals. The false patriotism of our prime minister and government is just a mask behind which lies the protection of criminal and clientelistic networks, accompanied by intense pressure on the judicial system. North Macedonia is blocked in the process of integration into the European Union, while the government has abandoned the broad political and social consensus on this issue with the justification that national identity is at risk," Filipçe stressed.
