Ferdinand confident about Barcelona star: He is the best player in the world at the moment

Rio Ferdinand has named Lamine Yamal as the best player in the world right now.

The Manchester United legend has praised the Barcelona winger for his intelligence, maturity and extraordinary talent at the age of just 17.

"Right now, the best player in the world is Lamine Yamal. I absolutely love this guy. It's like he's playing a different football than everyone else," Ferdinand said.

He stressed that Yamal plays with the maturity of a veteran. "It's like he has the mind of a 28-year-old. His decision-making in key moments is incredible for a 17-year-old," said the former England defender.

Ferdinand recalled a special moment during the match against Inter in the Champions League semi-finals.

“I watched him closely for 45 minutes and it was one of the most impressive performances I've seen in years,” he said.

Comparisons with Messi and Ronaldo were not lacking, but Ferdinand was firm: "They didn't do this at his age. He is creating his own history. What Lamine is doing, I have never seen before at this age."

Asked if Yamal is more like Messi or Ronaldo, he replied: "He's not like either one. He's Lamine Yamal. He doesn't just have rhythm, he creates the rhythm of the game. He controls the tempo like a conductor."

Finally, Ferdinand praised his altruism and balance on the pitch. "Yamal is not obsessed with goals like most young people. If a teammate is better, he passes. If it's time to shoot, he scores.
