Real Valladolid has five rounds remaining in the championship and has been mathematically eliminated from the Spanish La Liga after a convincing 5-1 defeat to Real Betis on the road.

With this result, Real Valladolid became the first club to secure a return to the second division this season, as they have only won 16 points in 33 rounds, which left them up to 18 points away from the safety zone, with only 15 points left in the game.

The team has won just one point in its last 14 games, while losing each of its last seven matches.

Real Valladolid also conceded more goals and scored fewer, confirming one of the worst second-half seasons in the recent history of Spanish football.

This club was taken over by former legendary footballer Ronaldo Nazario in 2018, who was welcomed with great enthusiasm at the time, as great progress was expected, but the third relegation from the category in the last five years is very difficult for the club's fans.

So they prepared a big protest before Saturday's championship game against Barcelona.

The club's fans printed 60,000 counterfeit banknotes with Ronaldo's face and the main message: "Ronaldo, go home!".

The banknotes will be distributed to all spectators in the stadium and the plan is for them to be thrown onto the pitch simultaneously in the 12th minute of the match. /Telegraph/
