Fabregas among the main favorites to take over at the Italian giants

Cesc Fabregas has been included in Roma's shortlist for the role of head coach.

It was previously reported that 73-year-old Claudio Ranieri will step down as head coach and move into an executive role at the club at the end of the season.

According to Sky Sports, Roma are considering Fabregas and have already held talks with him.

The Spanish coach is currently in charge of Como, who are ranked 11th in Serie A.

Ranieri is understood to have a high opinion of the 37-year-old's potential as a manager. After a recent match between Roma and Como, he declared: "Fabregas will reach a very high level - he is destined for the best clubs," Ranieri had declared.

Other candidates on the list include Stefano Pioli, considered the favourite, Ajax's Francesco Farioli and Patrick Vieira. /Telegraph/
