FIFA: We have received more than 500 million requests for World Cup tickets

World football's governing body, FIFA, announced on Wednesday that it had received more than 500 million ticket requests for this year's World Cup.
The football umbrella organization stated that, outside the host countries of the United States of America, Mexico and Canada, the most requests were sent by fans from Germany, England, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Colombia.
After fierce criticism over high ticket prices, FIFA announced last month that it would provide tickets worth $60 per match to the tournament's 48 national federations, with the federations deciding how to distribute them to their fans who had seen their previous matches.
In the third phase of the sale, which lasted from December 11 to Tuesday, the most sought-after match was the Colombia-Portugal match on June 27 in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Then there's the Mexico-South Korea match on June 18 in Guadalajara, Mexico, the final on July 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the opening match between Mexico and South Africa on June 11 in Mexico City, and the second-round match on July 2 in Toronto.
FIFA said that ticket applicants will be notified of the outcome by February 5, and that tickets for matches where demand exceeds available capacity will be allocated randomly. /Telegraph/
