Every third citizen in Macedonia has paid a bribe to get a job done

Every third citizen in North Macedonia has paid some kind of bribe to get a job done. This is shown by the data of the latest report on the assessment of corruption by the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation, a small part of which was presented today by the director, Aleksandar Krzhalovski, at the event dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day - December 9, and announced that the research in its entirety will be published in the coming days.
In his speech to those present at the event, Krzhalovski emphasized that what they measured in the latest report is that unlike previous years when corruption was perceived as a major problem in society, now it is in second place.
"Corruption is a serious problem, which is widespread and unfortunately quite accepted. A deterioration in the pressure of corruption has been observed compared to the previous report, when a decrease was recorded. According to the data in the latest report, 37 percent of citizens have been asked for a bribe, and 31 percent of them have given some kind of bribe to get a job done. Corruption is a serious problem, which is widespread and unfortunately quite accepted," said Krzhalovski.
Judges and public prosecutors as individuals are at the bottom of the trust list, and at the end is the judicial prosecutor's office, as an institution, while here trust in MPs and politicians is not very high, but trust in the Parliament as an institution is at a high level.
Regarding trust in institutions fighting corruption, Krzhalovski said that the SCPC remained at the same level of 32 percent, while trust in the Ministry of Internal Affairs increased to 50 percent.
