The City of Skopje, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, has identified around 150 critical points throughout Skopje where speed limit signs and signage are either missing or need to be repaired. The most critical locations, according to Gjorgjievski, are near schools, where it is planned to place “policemen on the move” or barricades to slow down vehicles.

"We are working on removing these 150 critical points, which include the failure to place signs and traffic lights. It is good that the law regarding the placement of "policemen on duty" was changed, and if in the past it was not possible for public enterprises to place "policemen on duty" on certain boulevards as critical points, now this ban has been lifted and we will be able to intervene," said Orce Gjorgjievski - Mayor of the City of Skopje.

Gjorgjievski, asked by Alsat who would pay the fine if the drivers of the NQP violate traffic rules and are recorded by the "Safe City" cameras, replied:

"Even in the City of Skopje, but also in all public enterprises, the responsibility lies with the person driving the vehicle and all expenses will be borne by the person who violated the law, while where it cannot be determined who drove the vehicle, the responsibility goes to the manager responsible for the vehicles," said Orce Gjorgjievski - Mayor of the City of Skopje.

According to Gjorgjievski, in the coming period, actions will be taken according to the practices of modern companies in the world, with the use of GPS and card reading devices for company vehicles, in order to identify the driver and monitor the movement of vehicles. This measure, according to him, comes after previous misuses, including fuel misuse. /Alsat/
