Europe witnessed a football fairytale last night: The first trophy after 92 years of waiting

Dutch football club Go Ahead Eagles from Deventer celebrated last night (Monday) winning their first trophy after a long 92-year wait.

Go Ahead Eagles was considered a giant in the early days of Dutch football. This team won four Dutch championship titles and was a real giant at first, but its last title was won in 1933.

The drought lasted 92 years, but was broken last night when Go Ahead Eagles won their first trophy after a long wait by winning the Dutch Cup in sensational fashion.

Go Ahead Eagles celebrated against AZ Alkmaar after being more accurate in the penalty shootout, and the way this team achieved the turnaround and the trophy is particularly impressive.

Specifically, the favored AZ Alkmaar had the lead until the ninth minute of extra time, when a penalty was awarded to Go Ahead Eagles. They scored a goal and won the extra time.

After 120 minutes of play, there was no winner, so penalties were played. Belgian goalkeeper Jarri De Busser excelled there, saving two penalties and bringing his team a major trophy.

Interestingly, all the goals in the final match were scored from penalties. First, Troy Parrott put AZ Alkmaar 1-0 up from the penalty spot in the 54th minute and Mats Deijl scored in extra time to tie the game 1-1.

There were no goals in extra time and then the penalty shootout began, after which the GA Eagles won with a score of 4-2. /Telegraph/
