The Basic Court in Pristina has canceled the trial of Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, who are accused of espionage.

In the announcement made by the Basic Court, it is stated that the trial panel has ordered an examination regarding the mental state of the defendant Bedri Shabani, reports Telegrafi.

"We inform you that the trial session in the criminal case PS.nr.13/2025, against the defendants B.SH. and MQ, due to the criminal offense of Espionage, scheduled for 20.11.2025 according to the Indictment of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, has been canceled, as the trial panel in this criminal case has ordered an examination regarding the mental state of the defendant B.SH., according to the proposal of the defense of the defendant B.SH.," the announcement states.

Furthermore, it is stated that the annulment was made by the trial panel and is based on the fact that a psychiatric examination of the defendant B.SH was ordered, which examination cannot be completed in a short time.

The court announces that regarding the setting of the next date in this criminal case, the parties will be notified in advance, through court invitations.

The Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) on February 19, 2025 filed an indictment against Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, charging them with having collected and sent information and documents to the Serbian BIA regarding the Kosovo Liberation Army, its superiors and members, the Police, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency and the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, as well as specific events and objects, including a massacre.

Through these actions, the SPRK says that the aim was to cause a widespread interethnic conflict in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, to create a false narrative linking the KLA Military Hospital to alleged organ trafficking, and to question the truth of the massacre. /Telegraph/
