Erdogan talks about the fighting in Syria

Addressing key regional issues, including the ongoing situation in Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday wished the march of rebel forces towards Damascus to continue without accidents and mishaps.

"Idlib, Hama, Homs and the goal is of course Damascus. The march of the opposition continues. Our wish is that this march in Syria continues without accidents and disasters," Erdogan told reporters after the Friday prayer in Istanbul.

He also expressed frustration with the Syrian leadership, saying “we invited (Bashar al) Assad. We said, 'Come, let's decide the future of Syria together.' Unfortunately, we did not receive a positive response to this."

Regarding Lebanon, Erdogan emphasized the difficult circumstances in the country, he writes reuters.

"Lebanon is in a very difficult situation. Everything is ruined. There are requests for help. At a time when the world is silent, we will continue with our help," said the Turkish leader.

Calling for unity in Lebanon, Erdogan emphasized Ankara's commitment to support the crisis-stricken nation.

Otherwise, the Syrian rebels have launched an uprising and aim to remove Assad from power. /Telegraph/
