Erdogan in a meeting with the new leader of Syria - will this be a step towards stability in the region?
Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his second official trip abroad since taking power.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday afternoon, the presidential palace in Ankara has announced.
While sources in the Syrian transitional government confirmed that al-Sharaa was planning a visit to Turkey after his trip to Saudi Arabia on Sunday, writes yahoonews, the Telegraph reports.
It is known that Turkey is working rapidly to establish relations with Syria, as are Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Erdogan also aims to help rebuild Syria's economy after more than a decade of civil war.
Otherwise, the overthrow in early December of the dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad has significantly increased Turkish influence in the region. /Telegraph/
