"It would be the end of the world order as we know it if the US were to invade Greenland by force," the former NATO chief said.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who is also a former Danish prime minister, said Trump is using language about Greenland similar to that of the "gangsters" in Russia and China that he should try to control, writes sky news.

"For me, it has been a painful process. Since childhood, I have considered the United States to be the natural leader of the free world. I have even spoken of the US as the policeman of the world," said Rasmussen, who sent Danish troops to fight alongside the US in Afghanistan.

"Now we see the United States using language that is very similar to that of the gangsters who have to control Moscow and Beijing," he added.

"Divisions in the West are in Russia's favor. I'm sure Moscow hopes that Greenland will become the iceberg that sinks NATO," the former NATO chief continued.

"So this goes beyond Denmark and Greenland... The conquest of Greenland would be the end of the world order as we know it," he concluded. /Telegraph/
