"Emotions were high today," Zelensky appears to respond to Trump's criticism

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has spoken for the first time following criticism from his American counterpart, Donald Trump.

The Ukrainian president said that "emotions were high today," but added that all sides "expressed their views and respectfully acknowledged each other's positions" during today's talks in London.

"The American side shared its vision. Ukraine and other Europeans presented their contributions. And we hope that it is precisely such joint work that will lead to a lasting peace," he wrote on the X platform.

"Ukraine will always act in accordance with its constitution. We are fully confident that our partners, in particular the United States, will act in accordance with its strong decisions," Zelensky asserted.

This statement came after Washington's peace plan reportedly included official US recognition of Russian sovereignty over annexed Crimea, which the Ukrainian leader has rejected.

Otherwise, Russia started the invasion of the Ukrainian state on February 24, 2022, causing thousands of casualties and extensive material damage. /Telegraph/
