The new mayor of Saraj Municipality, Muhamet Elmazi, held his first press conference since taking office. He said that the municipality's debt currently stands at 3 million euros, while also presenting the debts that the municipality had under the previous management.

"From the data released today, we can freely say that the debt of the municipality of Saraj, speaking as a municipality, from the new updated data is 3 million euros. The debt of the public enterprise within the municipality of Saraj-Municipal Hygiene is 425.000 euros, the debt of the Filizi nursery within the municipality of Saraj is 230.700 euros, the debt of the municipal primary schools is 198.000 euros, the debt of the public enterprise for public lighting management is 127.000 euros," said Elmazi.

These debts, Elmazi said, have kept the municipality blocked since taking office, because as he said, the creditors have been active.

He further said that they have also encountered numerous contracts, unreasonable agreements and expenses made without agreement. According to him, these practices have nothing to do with the public interest, which is why the municipality has been plunged into financial chaos.
