Elezi provides details from the vote count for deputies

The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, announced in a press conference that as of today (February 18), at 16:00 PM, about 78% of polling stations or about 1,970 out of 2,533 votes for candidates for deputies have been counted.

Elezi emphasized that the CEC is continuing with high intensity the work to announce the final results for political entities and candidates for deputies of the Elections for the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, but recalled that until the final results are announced, the CEC must count the votes of candidates for deputies and verify the votes of political entities from the forms that were filled out at polling stations; count conditional votes; votes of persons with special needs; votes from voting outside Kosovo; then decide on any potential complaints from the ECAP and the Supreme Court and after completing all procedures at the Counting and Results Center.

Elezi said that the process of evaluating packages with ballots from voting outside Kosovo, respectively from voting by mail, is continuing.

"Since February 9, when the assessment and verification of packages with ballots from voting outside Kosovo began, and until now, February 18, 28,099 packages have been subjected to this process, of which 26,013 have been approved, while 2,057 have been rejected. The reason why these shipments were rejected is that they were sent by persons who were canceled during the registration as voters outside Kosovo; they are missing the registration receipt; they were sent more than once, etc.," he emphasized.

According to him, in general, during postal voting, the CEC has received around 69 thousand packages of ballots and only at the end of their evaluation process will it be known exactly how many packages of ballots will be subject to counting.

"According to the procedures, the packages with ballots are subject to the evaluation process, which includes verifying whether they belong to registered voters and whether other prescribed procedures have been followed, while the counting of these ballots will take place at the Counting and Results Center. Overall, the number of Kosovo citizens registered to vote outside Kosovo was 104,924, of whom 20,324 were registered to vote at diplomatic missions and 15,352 voted, while 84,600 citizens were registered to vote by mail," he added.

Elezi also provided information regarding conditional voting and voting for people with special needs, which took place in 56 polling stations.

"Based on CEC data, the number of envelopes with ballots from conditional polling stations is 12,801, which will also be subject to verification, which includes comparison with the list of voters signed at regular polling stations. Meanwhile, the number of votes cast by people with special needs is: 2,597 votes", Elezi underlined. /Telegrafi/
