Electronic traffic monitoring begins in North Macedonia, Kosovo Police warns citizens

The authorities of North Macedonia have begun implementing an electronic system for monitoring road traffic, known as "Safe City", through which traffic violations will be automatically recorded.
According to official information, monitoring will be carried out through technical equipment and intelligent cameras, which record violations of traffic regulations in accordance with the relevant legislation of North Macedonia.
In the first phase, the system will be implemented in the cities of Skopje, Tetovo and Kumanovo, as well as along Corridor 8 and Corridor 10. In these areas, violations such as: exceeding the speed limit, running red lights, stopping and parking illegally, as well as driving with unregistered vehicles will be recorded.
Authorities have announced that the "Safe City" system will also apply to vehicles with foreign license plates, including those from Kosovo. If a foreign citizen commits a violation detected by this system, he will be notified upon entering or exiting the territory of North Macedonia.
Foreign citizens have the right to pay 50 percent of the fine if the payment is made within eight days. Meanwhile, in case of disagreement with the violation or failure to make the payment, a misdemeanor procedure for foreigners will be initiated against them before the competent court.
This announcement is addressed to citizens with the aim of informing and increasing caution, as well as respecting legal provisions during travel and stay in North Macedonia. /Telegraph/
