Election crimes in Albania, Police searches five apartments

The police in Albania have conducted a wide-ranging operation as part of investigations into electoral crimes, where physical searches were also carried out in the homes of five suspected citizens.

According to the State Police announcement, a number of material evidence were seized during this operation, including invoices, fuel coupons, voter lists, a DVR, a maneuver weapon and five mobile phones.

The operation was carried out by the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes and the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the Criminal Police Department, in cooperation with officers of the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH), in the function of criminal proceedings. The checks were executed based on the decision of May 17, 2025, of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.

During the search conducted on citizen E. Rr., 50 years old, resident of Kavaja, the Police blocked a mobile phone and seized invoices, oil coupons and a voter list from a premises owned by him.

Mobile phones were also seized from citizens OS, 38 years old, and T. Rr., 44 years old, both residents of Kavaja, as well as TH, 35 years old, resident of Qerret, Durrës.

Meanwhile, citizen MS, 37 years old, resident of Kavaja, had a DVR device, fuel coupons and a maneuver weapon seized from him.

All five of these citizens are suspected of the criminal offense of active corruption in elections. Investigations within the framework of this criminal proceeding continue with the aim of fully documenting the illegal activity.

The State Police continues its work to guarantee the integrity of electoral processes and bring to justice any citizen involved in illegal activities. /Telegraph/
