Eddie Howe, the Bournemouth legend who made history with Newcastle

Eddie Howe, the Newcastle United manager, has made history by winning the Carabao Cup against Liverpool in a thrilling final.

This victory gave the "Laraskas" their first national trophy after 70 years of waiting, breaking a curse that had followed the club for decades.

Howe is the first English manager to win an English trophy since Harry Redknapp with Portsmouth in 2008, and fans believe he deserves a statue at St James' Park.

Newcastle's success cannot be understood without the contribution of Eddie Howe. The English coach arrived at the club in November 2021, replacing Steve Bruce, at a time when the team was at the bottom of the Premier League table.

In less than two years, Howe has transformed Newcastle, turning them from a team fighting for survival into a competitive force on the English and European stage.

Howe's path to getting here has not been easy. He began his career as a coach at Bournemouth, his beloved club, where he played as a footballer for 10 seasons.

As a manager, Howe did unforgettable things at Bournemouth, leading them to the Premier League for the first time in the club's history in the 2014/2015 season.

He managed 458 games with Bournemouth, leaving an indelible legacy.

At Newcastle, Howe has built a strong and united team. Under his leadership, the "Laraskat" qualified for the Champions League for the 2023/2024 season after a 20-year absence and have now brought home their first trophy.

In 163 games as Newcastle manager, Howe has recorded 82 wins, 45 losses and 36 draws, showing a steady increase in the team's performance.

Shay Given, former Newcastle goalkeeper and a club icon, has praised Howe for his work.

"He has brought the city and the club together. They should put a statue of him in St James' Park," Given said.

This is a testament to Howe's importance to the club and its fans.

Winning the Carabao Cup is not just a trophy for Newcastle; it symbolises the end of a long period without success and the beginning of a new era under Eddie Howe.

With a clear vision and a dedicated approach, Howe has made it possible for Newcastle to become one of the most popular clubs in England and Europe.

Fans now look to the future with optimism, believing that this is just the beginning of a successful journey. /Telegraph/
